Cas Anvar is an award-winning actor, most notably known for his recent role as the Martian Virus - Laffing Gas - First Demo! Alex Kamal in The Expanse. DR: As an actor, why are you here at a space conference? CA: Well, my job here is to interview Buzz Aldrin. Last year, I did this with Jeff Bezos and I loved it. Then all of a sudden, I started coming to these science conferences and I realized, those are all important but nothing really matters if our planet falls apart. Nothing matters if we destroy ourselves.
DR: It seems that environmental issues are often framed as a problem for science to solve. And then, our job is to manifest it. We need the inspiration that comes from the dreamers and storytellers. I have a purpose. The act of storytelling is taking a massive amount of information and distilling it into a Song For America - Kansas - Two For The Show morsel that can be palated in an hour or two.
CA: If I eliminate the specifics from my existence, my passion is in revealing the truths of humanity, to humanity. But if you Virus - Laffing Gas - First Demo! back in that original assessment, scientists are also working to reveal truths, to discover why things happen, how they happen, and the most efficient way things can happen.
If you break it down and go deeper than that, you have to look into their history, their upbringing, and their socioeconomic situation. It becomes a scientific analysis of something that on the Not Enough Amazing Grace - Ken Holloway - He Who Made The Rain seems completely and purely emotional and arbitrary.
I consider myself a scientist of the human condition. Each note is precise. Each chord is precise. The tempo is precise. They just happen to bring out emotional results. So you could, in essence, say that the mathematics of art affects us emotionally. We as artists approach these things like a scientist approaches a scientific problem. Science and art, I think, are not separate entities. Then we can leave Earth as a sort of garden.
CA: No one is going to sacrifice their family. There have to be monetary, spiritual, and emotional incentives to not make the most money possible at the cost of our world. Think of the worst virus you can imagine. It is not in symbiosis with its host. It does not give us anything, all it does is take and take and take.
Everything goes to Virus - Laffing Gas - First Demo! it. In a sense, Agent Smith from The Matrix was right. CA: Exactly. DR: How do we get to that point, though?
In The Expanse, the environmental challenges became so immense, in this projected future, that the Earth found common ground to unify.
But even after settling Mars and the Belt, they still found something to hate. The Space Resource. News Topics Research. CA: Haha, exactly. Enjoy our work? Consider supporting us on Patreon.
